About the Role
A growing international organization is seeking a Head of Compliance to lead product compliance and sustainability activities across a portfolio of entertainment technology, audio, lighting, video, and related products.
This role combines compliance leadership with hands-on technical and regulatory work. You will lead a team of compliance specialists, ensure products meet applicable European regulatory requirements, advise product and management teams, and help professionalize compliance processes across the organization.
The position requires someone who can interpret complex technical and legal information, apply a risk-based approach, and balance regulatory requirements with commercial and product development priorities.
What You’ll Do
• Take overall responsibility for product compliance and sustainability-related topics.
• Ensure products comply with applicable requirements, including CE, Machinery Directive, EMC, LVD, RED, RoHS, REACH, and PoP.
• Assess products, packaging, labels, manuals, and related documentation for regulatory compliance, language requirements, and completeness.
• Lead and support a team of compliance specialists responsible for operational compliance activities.
• Establish priorities and identify products requiring additional compliance attention.
• Improve compliance processes and manage escalations and priorities as required.
• Serve as a key internal and external point of contact for compliance and regulatory affairs.
• Request and review technical documentation, certificates, reports, and other compliance evidence.
• Monitor compliance status and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained and published.
• Collaborate with colleagues on technical files and product documentation.
• Stay current with regulatory developments and develop implementation plans for new legislation.
• Advise Product Managers and senior management on compliance requirements, regulatory changes, and legal developments.
• Develop and implement compliance policies, processes, and documentation.
• Work with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to integrate product compliance into the end-to-end product process.
• Collaborate with product managers and technical experts to gather and validate product information.
• Support internal and external stakeholders with compliance-related questions.
• Understand product technical characteristics and applicable standards to ensure complete compliance documentation.
• Lead the compliance team in establishing structure, setting priorities, and ensuring compliance requirements are addressed before products reach the market.
• Apply a risk-based approach to balance regulatory requirements with commercial and product development considerations.
• Resolve complex compliance matters in a practical, hands-on manner.
What We’re Looking For
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar compliance role.
• Proven experience leading a team of compliance specialists or professionals.
• Strong subject matter expertise in product compliance, particularly CE, Machinery Directive, EMC, LVD, RED, RoHS, REACH, and PoP.
• Experience bringing entertainment technology or related products to market under applicable EU compliance legislation.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in compliance, law, engineering, or another technical discipline.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex technical and legal documentation.
• Ability to connect technical information with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of risk-based compliance and the ability to make commercially sensible decisions.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including setting priorities and engaging stakeholders across commercial and product development functions.
• Affinity with technology and products in the entertainment, audio, lighting, video, or related industries.
• Experience working with international or overseas suppliers is advantageous.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Ability to communicate in Dutch or German; willingness to learn Dutch is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is advantageous.
• Experience with Product IP software is advantageous.
